History:
ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth is a non-profit organization begun in 1976 by representatives of community, religious and governmental groups. ElderNet serves adults of all ages, especially the disadvantaged, or persons over 60. The founders saw that older residents of Lower Merion and Narberth were often not affluent, and many could not afford to pay for escorted transportation services and other small services that could extend the time they were able to live independently and safely in their own suburban homes or apartments. The solution as they saw it, was NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR. Since then, a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers continues their vision by helping with chores, shopping, medical and governmental appointments and other needed tasks.

The assignments are varied, and they can be scheduled to accommodate the varied schedules of an active individual. The volunteers enjoy working one-to-one with, and getting to know, so many interesting clients.
